When women and their children flee an abuser, they often leave with nothing but the clothes they’re wearing. Almost 45 years ago, my mum was in this exact position. She was pregnant with my brother, and I was just two years old. Her courage is why we are here today. I’m inviting you to support Refuge to continue her legacy of kindness.

Lots of us are struggling with rising energy bills. For women trying to find the money to flee domestic abuse, the choice will be whether to leave or stay with an abusive partner. But the cost-of-living crisis shouldn’t cost women their lives.

£10 could pay for a mobile phone top up for a woman to let her family know she is safe / who is unable to use her phone as her phone is being tracked.

£30 could go towards paying for a taxi for a woman to flee her abuser and to be safe in one of our 44 refuges.

£52 could cover the cost of a woman and her children to have a safe night’s stay in a refuge.

£100 could pay for a night’s stay in emergency hotel accommodation for a survivor when there isn’t availability in a refuge.
