Build a house
Rebuild women’s lives
Right now, thousands of women in the UK are scared for their lives in their own homes. Fearing the sound of their partner’s key in the front door. Not knowing what might spark their anger. Feeling unsafe in bed every night.
Yet, across the nation, every two hours a woman is turned away from a refuge due to lack of space or capacity.*
Through our campaign with the Independent we have reached our target to raise £300,000 to build an innovative refuge – a true home where women escaping abusive partners, and any child or pet they bring with them, can be safe and recover.
We are now raising funds for a second house so that even more women affected by domestic abuse can find their freedom. And thanks to the incredible generosity of The Julia Rausing Trust donating £150k, we are halfway to our new target of an additional £300k. But we still need your help.
Please give now and help us rebuild women’s lives, brick by brick.
Refuge's National Domestic Abuse Helpline is available 24/7 on 0808 2000 247. As well as advice and support, we can speak to people about their options for accessing emergency temporary accommodation whilst waiting for a space in a specialist refuge. *Figure derived from Women's Aid Domestic Abuse Report 2024.
